“Do you offer payment plans?” It’s a question I hear occasionally, and I understand why.
Photography feels important, sometimes urgent. And in the same breath like a huge or scary expense, even for people who are careful with their budgets. And I get it: a few hundred pounds or more can feel like a lot when you’re weighing it against rent, groceries, or other life priorities.
But the answer is no. I don’t offer payment plans for my photography services. And it’s not because I’m inflexible or want to make my work inaccessible. It’s because I care about financial wellbeing – yours as much as mine.
I grew up in East Germany, where credit cards weren’t a thing. If you didn’t have the money, you simply didn’t buy it. My dad always said: “If you don’t have the money in your bank, you can’t afford it.” That stuck with me. I’ve never carried debt (a privilege, I know), and it taught me to be deliberate with how I spend my money. Not everything that seems urgent or desirable in the moment has the same impact a few months down the line when you’ve stretched beyond your means.
To be transparent, I’ve personally used instalments for big-ticket purchases – expensive courses or coaching costing £1,000 or more. But for everyday photography, my pricing is designed so that a payment plan isn’t (or shouldn’t be) needed. You don’t have to go into debt to work with me.

What I mean by “No Payment Plans”
It’s important to clarify the difference between payment plans and instalments.
In the traditional sense within the photography industry, payment plans usually mean paying off your investment over an extended period of time – often months after the photos have been delivered. You might receive your artwork, photo album or image collection only once the full balance is paid, which could take up to a year depending on your plan and the cost of the products.
That just doesn’t sit right with me.
In my business, I offer instalments, which might sound similar, but it’s not the same thing. Here’s what I do:
For family photography, you do actually pay for your photos in two stages: a booking fee, and then the remaining balance after the session. For example, my family sessions start at £600. That’s broken down in a session fee of £250 and an image collection with the smallest package with digital images and a print credit coming in at £350.
This isn’t a payment plan in the traditional sense. There’s no interest, no long-term debt, and no waiting months for your images. It’s simply a straightforward, flexible way to make the process manageable while keeping financial responsibility front and centre.
For my small business clients, it’s even simpler. My Mini Headshot Sessions start at £80 – a low-cost, low-commitment way to work together.
Building on that, my full Personal Branding Sessions are £600 (my most-booked package), and there’s flexibility for smaller, scaled-back options too. These sessions are also paid in two instalments: 50% to book your date and 50% before your session.
The goal is to meet people where they are financially, without creating pressure or risk.

Why I don’t offer payment plans for photography
There are a few reasons behind this policy, and they all come back to care: care for you, and care for the business I want to run sustainably.
1. Financial wellbeing matters
Photography is meaningful, but it’s not essential. Food, rent, utilities, school fees – these are essentials. I never want someone to feel like they need to go into debt for a photoshoot, no matter how much they want it. Offering payment plans for everyday sessions can unintentionally encourage financial stress, and that’s not what I’m about.
2. Photography is a luxury, not a necessity
This might sound obvious, but it’s worth stating: family photography, branding sessions, even headshots – they’re investments in memories or marketing. They’re worth it, yes. But they’re a choice, not a requirement. My pricing reflects that.
3. Responsible business boundaries
I want to provide excellent service, and that means knowing my cash flow is healthy and predictable. Extending payment plans or credit adds complexity, stress, and risk – none of which improves the experience for my clients.
4. Encouraging intentional spending
I believe in deliberate, conscious decisions about money. If something is beyond your budget, it’s better to plan, save, or choose a different option than to stretch yourself thin. Photography should be celebrated, not be a source of anxiety.
For Families
Family Photography is especially personal. It captures fleeting moments that can’t be recreated, which is why it feels urgent. But that urgency can make it tempting to stretch finances.
My approach is to offer options that respect your reality:
- Family Sessions starting at £600, with the session fee and collection fee split into two manageable stages
- Planning Ahead – you can book in advance to spread out the investment without creating debt and you actually only pay for your photo package after you’ve seen your images
The message I want every family to hear is simple: love your memories, invest when it feels right, and never compromise your wellbeing. Photography is valuable, but it’s not worth financial stress.
This, coming from someone who’s obsessed with documenting life in all stages, is a big statement!
For Small Businesses & Branding Clients
For business owners, the situation looks slightly different. Cash flow and budgets are real concerns, and growth often happens in stages. But even here, payment plans aren’t always the solution. They can make accounting more complicated, and sometimes they encourage spending beyond what’s sustainable.
Instead, I offer:
- Mini Headshots from £80 for a quick, professional update
- Scaled Branding Sessions starting at £450, with options for building your brand image over time
- Flexible scheduling and paying in 2 instalments to spread investment naturally, without debt
The principle is the same: invest thoughtfully, match photography to your current stage, and build your brand sustainably. A session is an investment, not a financial stretch.

What I offer instead of traditional payment plans
While I don’t use payment plans, I do offer flexibility that prioritises your wellbeing:
- Transparent pricing, so you know exactly what to expect
- Options to suit different needs and budgets
- Simple two-stage payment for family sessions
- Low-cost mini sessions to make photography accessible
- Two-stage payment for Personal Branding sessions
My goal is to make working with me clear, manageable, and joyful—without compromising either your finances or my ability to run a sustainable business.
